This course is specifically designed to prepare aspiring care professional who wish to transition into the newborn care industry and advance the skills. Most of our usual course participants possess backgrounds as nannies, doulas, caregivers, daycare workers, CNAs, HHAs, LPNs, RNs, moms and those with little to no experience at all. Wherever you are in your career, we well-equipped to prepare you for what's ahead!
Mothers Helping Hands Newborn Care Specialist Training course lasts 12 week course. You will have access to a new set of modules every other week. We recommend you dedicate at least 10-15 hours of time per week towards successfully completing the training course.
Our course is all-inclusive with virtual, self-paced training, narrated videos, hands-on material, end of module testing and your official certificate package.
In addition to reliable internet connection and a mobile/desktop, we recommend dedicating at least 10-15 hours per week to ensure you master all course material and matriculate appropriately.
All students with successfully pass each end-of-module test and their certification exam with a score of 80% or better will receive a certification as proof of their participation and mastery of course material..

Module 1: Introduction to Newborn Care
This module provides an overview of the importance of providing care for the newborn as a Professional Newborn Care Specialist. It will provide you with an overview of the significance of the Newborn Care Specialist in supporting families with newborn babies as well as the scope, working conditions, and limitations of the job. By the end of this module, participants will have a solid understanding of the role and importance of the Newborn Care Specialist.
Module 2: Pregnancy & Prenatal
This module aims to provide participants with knowledge about conception and fetal development; the physical, physiological, psychological, and emotional changes experienced by the mother during pregnancy; and prenatal care that ensures the health and well-being of both the mother and the developing fetus. By the end of this module, participants will have the ability to provide effective support and care to pregnant individuals, contributing to healthy pregnancies and positive outcomes for both the mother and the developing fetus.
Module 3: Delivery and Postpartum
The goal of this module is to provide a comprehensive coverage of childbirth preparation, types of delivery, and care during labor and delivery. Participants will gain knowledge and skills to navigate the delivery process and promote the well-being of both the mother and the newborn. Participants will be well-equipped to support expectant mothers, contribute to a positive birthing experience, and ensure the safety and health of both the mother and the newborn.
Module 4: The Newborn Profile
The goal of this module is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively assess the health and growth of newborns. This includes monitoring vital signs, recognizing physical characteristics and reflexes, understanding anatomy and physiology, and identifying potential signs of health issues. By successfully completing this module, participants will be equipped to support mothers in fostering the optimal development and well-being of their newborns.
Module 5: Baby's First Year
The goal of this module is to provide knowledge and understanding of the developmental milestones in a baby's physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. It aims to help participants recognize normal breathing patterns, promote safe sleep practices, and establish a consistent sleep schedule for newborns.
Module 6: Crying & Discomfort
Crying is an important means of communication for babies, signaling their need for care and attention. The goal of this module is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to establish a safe and nurturing environment for newborns. Participants will develop the ability to recognize signs of discomfort in babies and understand the underlying reasons.
Module 7: Comforting Techniques
The goal of this module is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of various techniques used to comfort babies in different situations. This includes addressing fussiness, promoting sleep, managing hunger, and employing general comforting techniques. Participants will gain knowledge of Kangaroo Care, including its scientific background, benefits for both the baby and parents, and practical implementation.
Module 8: Newborn Nutrition & Feeding
This module provides a comprehensive understanding of newborn feeding, covering both breastfeeding and formula feeding. It emphasizes the benefits of breastfeeding, explores factors that can affect breastfeeding, and offers strategies for encouraging breastfeeding among mothers. The module also focuses on the importance of maternal nutrition during breastfeeding, including a detailed discussion on breast milk production. Participants will gain knowledge on how much and how often to feed a newborn, proper latching techniques, various breastfeeding positions, and methods to awaken a sleepy baby for breastfeeding.
Module 9: Colic & Reflux
This module aims to offer a thorough understanding of colic and reflux, including their symptoms, causes, diagnosis, and treatment choices. Participants will be introduced to various colic treatment options, such as burping and soothing techniques for relieving stomach discomfort and bloating. Additionally, it provides valuable guidance on assisting parents in practicing self-care while coping with a colicky baby. The module will also address reflux, its causes, symptoms, and treatment strategies, along with a step-by-step guide on how to properly clean infants during reflux incidents.
Module 10: Basic Health & Hygiene
The goal of this module is to provide a comprehensive understanding of infant care and health. It covers topics such as normal stool and urine patterns, diaper types and techniques, caring for a baby's circumcision, and guidance on cord care. Participants will also gain knowledge about common infant illnesses like fever, ear infections, oral thrush, vomiting, diarrhea, coughs, the common cold, hand-foot-mouth disease, and urinary tract infections, including symptoms, causes, treatment, and prevention.
Module 11: Newborn Safety
This module aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of safety considerations and precautions for newborns' wellbeing. It covers car safety, safe baby gear, pet safety, sibling safety, outdoor safety, use of chemicals, home safety, and first aid techniques. Participants will be introduced to car safety principles, proper use of car seats and seatbelts, and safe baby gear. They will also learn about introducing newborns to pets and helping siblings adjust, as well as outdoor safety, use of chemicals, and basic first aid techniques, including wound care and choking prevention. The module ensures participants grasp strategies to promote newborns' health and safety in various settings.
Module 12: Marketing Your Newborn Care Business
This module is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and strategies to establish and grow a successful newborn care business. We'll cover comprehensive business planning, legal compliance, defining services, branding, market research, pricing, insurance, contracts, scheduling, and continuous professional development. By the end of this module, you'll be well-prepared to launch and operate your thriving newborn care service. Additionally, we'll dive into effective marketing strategies, helping you attract and engage potential clients, build a strong brand presence, and become a trusted and sought-after provider in the industry.
